The advent of menopause is not pleasant. Physical, emotional as well as mental upheavals will mark the start of menopause. There is no handbook in the market by which you will know that you are approaching menopause.The changes that take place in the life of a woman are unique in nature and no two women display the same conditions or changes before perimenopause sets in. But the general signs of menopause would be the following.

The most likely stages of menopause to occur would be between 42 and 56. The women tend to lose their fertility; will stop menstruating and these changes are indeed unique as she moves post childbearing phase. The menopausal stage does not mean that you are growing old. The positive side to it is that life can now be lived to the fullest without worries.

There are several changes during these stages of menopause.The body's calcium level gets depleted due to fluctuating hormones and the end result is disease of the bones or osteoporosis.The body loses its immunity somehow and is easy prey to heart diseases, diabetes and other related illnesses.

Menopause's 3 stages

There are three stages to menopause. The first stage is the perimenopause. There are irregular periods and spotting during this stage because of fluctuating hormone secretion. The common belief is that during this stage conceiving is difficult.Conceiving is difficult during this stage is the common belief. ovulation is irregular with eggs being released during this stage of menopause. This stage lasts on an average for five years, with exceptions of up to 15 years. Perimenopause shows hot flashes, irritation and night sweats.

There is no menstruation during this second stage. the second stage is known as menopause and generally occurs around 51 years. It is recognized as this stage only if there is no menstruation for all twelve months consecutively. The signs of menopause are headaches, hot flashes and mood swings.

The final stage is postmenopause. There will not be any hot flashes or night sweats during this stage. Several other diseases like osteoporosis, heart diseases and UTI will occur during this stage.

In general women are apprehensive and scared about menopause so much that they sometimes overlook the signs of menopause.
